Gold-Coast-based developer Sherpa Property Group’s second iteration of its planned Palm Beach block has done the trick, winning approval for the project from the city council.
And the developer has signed on a builder for the nine-storey residential project with LPS Group winning the contract to build Perspective Nexus on a 1583sq m site at 949-953 Gold Coast Highway.
“Receiving development approval and having a reputable builder locked in and ready to go marks a significant milestone for Perspective Nexus, affirming its journey from vision to reality,” Sherpa Property Ground founder Christie Leet said.
“LPS Group shares the same ‘less is more’ approach that we take with our business.”
LPS is now building Pipis at Bilinga being developed by Siera and also on the southern Gold Coast, after completing Dibcorp’s Bide at Newstead in Brisbane’s inner north.
Perspective Nexus, designed by HAL Architects, comprises 32 apartments, including two half-floor penthouses and three so-called “sky homes” with their own private rooftops.
Communal amenities will include a dedicated wellness space including cold-plunge pool, sauna, magnesium pool and steam room with internal stairs to the residents’ recreational space, which includes a spa, pool, private dining and wellness garden.
The project will also have 79 carparks, electric-car-charging stations, individual apartment storage, car wash bay and parcel delivery storage, including cold store.
Sherpa filed new plans for the development after its original project was knocked back on appeal in August last year.
The Gold Coast City Council had approved a 14-storey tower for the site in 2022 but an appeal against that approval was upheld in the Planning and Environment Court.
The new plans were filed in October—the developer’s 12th project on the Glitter Strip.
Leet at the time said he had decided to take it as an opportunity to revisit the offering, rather than a setback, and a detailed design process was undertaken with HAL Architects.
Sherpa was edging towards a 50 per cent sellout of the Palm Beach block after securing contracts worth $48 million, the developer said.
Construction is planned to start in the first quarter of 2024 for completion in the third quarter of 2025.
