For Arondale’s managing director, Dan Blair, delivering specialty construction solutions while achieving more value for clients is not only core to the company’s beliefs, it also makes better business sense.
This is achieved by Arondale being engaged in the early stages of both design and construction to value-manage all aspects of a project for our clients.
The proactive Brisbane-based business, which has built an enviable roll-call of clients during its 30 years in business, has continued to strengthen its identity while forging lasting partnerships across an array of medical, education, aged care and suburban retail and office developments.
The company has evolved with the changing times in recent years, specialising in new issues such as seismic and silica WH&S and the pronounced issue of combustible cladding rectification.
Coupled with its vast experience and knowledge in acoustic and fire requirements, Arondale has consistently moved forward to meet all market demands.
Managing director Dan Blair said the business has grown rapidly during the last four years and is evolving every day.
“We are the provider of choice for bigger projects because we offer a full spectrum of services, can provide value management solutions and can help clients meet programme through project management expertise.
“Where the business had previously specialised in fit-outs, ceilings and partitions, we are now armed with a highly versatile carpentry, cladding, and joinery offerings along with our recently launched small projects division.”
In its formative years, the privately-owned subcontractor had the good fortune of partnering with some of the industry’s most reputable suppliers in order to deliver high specification fit-outs.
These partnerships continue to grow which allow Arondale to bring industry expertise to its clients.
“Working with some of the industry’s best-known commercial builders in that time, we have solidified our place as a market leader,” Blair said.
“We pride ourselves on delivering complicated projects for our clients on-time, within budget and to a very high level of finish—this is something the team is very passionate about and gives the business a real sense of purpose and pride.
“With 80 onsite staff, we have the capability to undertake large projects to service our clients with the ability to grow resources should the need arise,” Blair said.
“Launching the small projects division has allowed us to service our clients in that area without impacting our core business.”
Arondale’s largest projects to date include the $80 million William McCormack office development in Cairns, being undertaken by Laing O’Rourke, and the $53 million 110-bed Wesley Mission aged care development in Brisbane’s Sinnamon Park, being overseen by FKG Group.
Arondale was also enlisted by Buildcorp to fit out its $46 million Event Cinemas development in Kawana on the Sunshine Coast, as well as being engaged by Hansen Yuncken to help build the new home of Queensland Netball in the Brisbane suburb of Nathan.
The subcontractor has also been involved in sizeable civic projects, including the $40 million redevelopment of the Sunnybank Private Hospital on behalf of Broad Construction, and a number of projects at the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus.
While Arondale remains firmly committed to providing subcontracting services across its expanding Queensland portfolio, the emerging corporate has now turned its attention to providing speciality solutions, built on the back of three decades of experience.
Through its small projects division, the company will now look to provide owners and asset managers of small- to medium-sized projects the ability to engage Arondale on that level.
The small projects division will provide expanded end-to-end fit-out solutions, and will also focus on rectification works to cladding that fail to comply with the Building Code of Australia.
Events in recent years, such as the Grenfell Tower fire, the Lacrosse building and Neo200 apartment fires, brought global attention to the dangers of flammable cladding on building exteriors.
“We see re-clad as a significant opportunity within this division, and —given our proven track record—to provide a much-needed solution to the greater community coming to grips with a mandatory obligation,” Blair said.
“When rectification is done properly in the first place, it can avoid future insurance or legal woes and protect the value of an asset.
“Our access to suppliers and technical support will further enhance our capability, and has enabled us to launch the new division aimed at delivering a wider project scope for smaller projects that do not conflict with our clients on large commercial projects.”
