Nashville, Tennessee is no stranger to the music industry, and thus a rather fitting location for an iconic 27,900 square metre high-rise designed to look like an acoustic guitar standing upright.
Impakt Real Estate has announced plans to construct
Strings, a 32-story glass and steel building catering for office space in the instrument’s body and residential apartments in the guitar’s neck.
Impakt’s President Travis Kelty mentioned the idea for the building was inspired by a present he purchased for his wife a few years ago.
“I turned the guitar on its side and remarked, that would make a great building,” he said
The estimated cost of the entire project is at $100 million with a downtown site expected to be acquired within the next 50 days.
Although the project may be seen in a critical light, some might suggest the plan as comical, Mr Kelty argues that if you break the concept down logically and consider the components it is very similar to numerous other buildings that have been developed.
Mr Kelty explained, “It’s a reflection of the history and culture of Nashville and what music has brought to the city.”
Impakt Real Estate has partnered with architects KPS Group and Gulfport and contractor Anderson Companies to form the Strings development team.
