Key Features of Award Winning Projects in 2018

214227c8-70c5-4809-8714-1c863f60aae8

Living in a society driven by technology and innovation, a common theme in the most successful and award-winning residential projects has started to emerge: they are all prioritising the integration of internet connectivity during the early construction phases.

There’s no question that having access to fast broadband has become a key consideration for new property buyers and investors – in fact, the nbn™ ready Homes Report (2016) says that over 80 per cent of buyers make it a key consideration – but it has also become a key way for developers to help their projects stand out from other developments.

Throughout each Australian state and territory, the trend toward connectivity and smart homes has been seen in a number of recent award-winning projects that are all nbn™ ready.

The following nbn™ projects are characterised by innovative, tech-centred environments and forward thinking, sustainable design.

South Australia: Bohem by Starfish Developments

The multiple award-winning Bohem by Starfish Developments installed nbn™ infrastructure during its construction phase to ensure future residents had the opportunity to connect to the nbn™ broadband access network before they moved in, helping them to personalise their homes and enhance living potential.

As a 22-storey, 224 apartment landmark building in the south western corner of Adelaide CBD, the vision for the development was a "vertical suburb" that could provide new homes for approximately 560 people and offer abundant leisure, recreational and social community space for residents and visitors.

Commended for its contribution to city vibrancy and its clever use of green space to create an oasis-like sanctuary that reflects and complements its surroundings, its forward-thinking design and planning enabled helped Bohem to be nbn™ ready by its completion.

Western Australia: Bushmead by Cedar Woods Properties

Bushmead is a 273-hectare Cedar Woods Community located only 16km from the Perth CBD.

As Perth’s newest suburb, the Bushmead community is a unique development that aims to create a minimal environmental footprint by uniting nature with design while remaining connected to the wider society through the nbn™ access network.

The significant commitment by private developer Cedar Woods to delivering and supporting a sustainable community has been recognised and rewarded by the industry.

Their innovative approach to community engagement and education programs within local schools display a high level of innovative and futuristic thinking.

Bushmead’s premium homes were connected to the nbn™ access network during their construction, allowing brand new residents quick access to a fast broadband connection and an array of digital amenities that will serve them well into the future.

New South Wales: Brighton Lakes by Mirvac Homes

Brighton Lakes by Mirvac Homes is an utterly unique and distinct development that partnered with CSIRO, Tesla and LG to further their goal of building carbon neutral homes.

This worked in conjunction with their connection to the nbn™ access network to help create a truly innovative and tech-centred environment.

As part of the community’s blueprint for an innovative and lifestyle-oriented community, Brighton Lakes was connected to the nbn™ access network during its construction process.

This guaranteed connectivity supports the advanced dynamics of the development and its commitment to delivering above-industry standards.

Victoria: C.F. Row by Deal Corporation

Developed by Deal Corporation, C.F. Row has been hailed as a complex and sensitive development that seamlessly integrates the new building with the existing heritage façade while promoting modern and liveable amenities for future residents.

Located in Fitzroy, one of Melbourne’s oldest and best-known inner-city suburbs, the thoughtful design on a site that used to house a furniture warehouse is exemplified by its ability to capture the best a modern lifestyle has to offer.

With installation of the nbn™ access network occurring during the construction process, the project’s modern approach to connectivity proved a desirable selling point that complements the fast-paced social community of Fitzroy and its future residents.

Since its completion in late 2017, C.F Row has quickly become a landmark project in urban renewal.

Queensland: The Lake Residences – Northern Peninsula by Sunland Group

The Lake Residences – Northern Peninsula by Sunland Group is another award-winning development that is breaking boundaries in the industry.

An innovative and vibrant development, The Lakes Residences utilise a high-standard of finishes, a sense of separation and space, and an artistic flair to convey a natural, environment-oriented standard of living.

As part of Sunland Group’s commitment to high quality living, they applied for the Lake Residences to be connected to the nbn™ access network during its construction process – adding in a further layer of modernity to their luxurious offerings.

Northern Territory: Allure by Makrylos Developments

Situated in the heart of the popular coastal community of Nightcliff, Allure is a boutique oceanfront apartment project comprising of 23 luxury apartments in a five-storey architecturally-designed building.

Connectivity, community and complementary design elements were a major focus of Allure, which was designed to embrace sustainability and promote interaction.

Features of the development, such as Miele appliances and other sophisticated finishes, are supported by the development’s connection to the nbn™ access network, which was organised seamlessly during the construction process.

The common thread in these award winning projects is connectivity, but it is also key that they have applied for the nbn™ access network during the early construction phases of their projects in order to help unlock the smart potential of a new development and offer residents a seamless transition into their properties.

Modern broadband technology is highly complex, meaning that the application process for installing a network takes more time and requires more information from the developer.

nbn™ advises developers to apply at least 6 months ahead to help ensure new residents or tenants can connect to a phone and internet provider before they move in.

Being nbn™ ready means developers have signed up to have the nbn™ access network delivered to their project and ready for people’s new home or premises. As an open access network, residents have the unique ability to choose from more than one hundred phone and internet providers with an nbn™ powered plan – this includes Australia’s largest operators.

A new nbn™ ready home gives people the opportunity to be productive, efficient, creative and connected in their own homes, a lifestyle that Australians are embracing and actively searching for in their new homes.
