FKG Wins Approval for East Toowoomba Tower

Toowoomba Approval Hero

Toowoomba-based FKG Group has won unanimous approval for an eight-storey residential tower on the fringe of the city, 125km west of Brisbane.

Toowoomba Region Council voted to approve a material change-of-use request, allowing the 19-apartment tower to go-ahead on vacant land at 7-9 Kitchener Street, in the eastern part of the Darling Downs city.

Plans by Feather and Lawry Design show two penthouses within the seven residential levels, as well as a private roof terrace and wellness retreat with pool, spa, gymnasium and yoga room.

Of the 19 units, three will be two-bedroom, 11 of three bedrooms and five four-bedroom homes. A single level of basement parking will allow for 46 vehicles, and the developer has agreed to provide new car crossovers to Phillip Street.

Online documents show the two lots that make up the 1599sq m corner development site, have been held by Janflow Pty Ltd since February 2008. Janflow counts FKG Group executive chairman Gary Gardner among its listed directors.

Developers are increasingly looking up on Queensland’s Darling Downs as high-end apartment living gains traction in downtown Toowoomba.

Interest in the market’s potential has ramped up with the influx of new residents and the sale almost two years ago of a sprawling five-bedroom penthouse for $2.61 million.
