Chris Xistouris’ Pheonix Development and Construction is expecting to start work on one of its biggest projects later this year in Sydney’s west, more than two years after it filed plans.
The developed filed an application for planning permission for the four-building mixed-use project for a site at 4-12 Railway Street, Lidcombe, in March, 2021 with the Cumberland City Council.
It now hopes to start work on the project by July or August.
According to BCI records, Pheonix will also build the project.
The plans by Loucas Architects for the 5707sq m site comprise four buildings up to 18 storeys and about 318 apartments.
There will be a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments plus 4000sq m of retail in a ground floor shopping plaza.
One of the buildings will be 13 storeys, the second will be 18 storeys, a third 14 storeys and the final two will each be two storeys. There will be 456 car parking spaces at basement level.
The site is opposite a minute from the Lidcombe Station within the Lidcombe Precinct.
According to BCI records, the estimated development cost for the project is $102 million.
Lidcombe, 15km west of the CBD, as well as other parts of Sydney’s western suburbs have been the focus of increased development interest during the past year.
Former Cumberland City Council mayor Ronny Oueik's Marque Eight recently won planning approval for another mixed-use project in Lidcombe.
