Adelaide’s Largest Urban Regeneration Project Begins To Rise

Major construction work commenced this week on what will become one of Adelaide’s most significant and largest urban regeneration projects.

West Franklin will be located in the West End part of Adelaide’s CBD.

Earlier this year, Built Environs was awarded the $90 million contract to build stage one in West Franklin.

Hundreds of construction jobs will be generated during stage one, with over seventy subcontracting firms employed.

Greaton Managing Director Nicho Teng said West Franklin's sheer size will help activate this entire precinct.

“We are creating a new affordable urban lifestyle in West End that has never been seen before," he said.

"West Franklin is expected to become an iconic lifestyle destination that the West End community will be very proud to call home.

“Adelaide is one of the world’s most liveable cities and is undergoing a major transformation with significant economic growth and infrastructure investment," he said.

"We have deliberately pitched the West Franklin apartments at the affordable luxury market to appeal to a broad cross section of purchasers. Over 70 per cent of stage one is already sold.

“Local Adelaide architects Brown Falconer were chosen to lead the exterior design and interior fit-out.

"They have created a distinctive urban village that has been designed to meld with the historic fabric of the site, designed for the 21st century," Mr Teng said.

The first stage of West Franklin will be located on the corner of Elizabeth and Franklin Streets and will feature 272 residential apartments spread across two towers (north tower is 20 storeys and the south tower is 18 storeys).

They both share a common podium comprising 1,100 square metres of retail on the ground level, resident facilities and car parking with 236 spaces.

Residential facilities include a 20 metre wet edge lap pool, gym, spa, sauna, resident dining and lounge rooms, sky park with BBQ facilities and landscaped gardens, resident cinema, golf simulator and roof top bar showcasing panoramic views of Adelaide CBD, the ocean and Adelaide Hills.

The development will create an entirely new destination within Adelaide’s City West.

Situated on the corner of Franklin, Elizabeth and Morphett Streets, the lifestyle precinct represents the future of living in Adelaide and comprises 560 luxurious apartments and penthouses spread across four towers.
