Gated Over-50s Resort Greenlit for Perth’s Northern Beaches

A $300-million over-50s gated village in Perth’s outer northern beaches has been waved ahead by a state assessment panel.
The 360-home Oceanside Lifestyle Resort has been approved for a vacant 150,000sq m site at Damepattie Drive in the seaside suburb of Two Rocks, 62km north of the Perth CBD.
Providence Lifestyle Group managing director John Wood said construction of the project would invigorate Two Rocks.
“With strong projected population growth, rapidly rising property prices and the Two Rocks Village shopping and dining hub on the way, Two Rocks is on the move but retains that holiday feel, making it an ideal downsizing destination,” he said.
The project is Providence’s sixth and biggest lifestyle resort in Western Australia to date.
Set alongside the resort’s one, two and three-bedroom homes, which feature solar panels and battery storage, will be a two-level Hamptons-inspired lodge.
The resort will include a country club, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, indoor bowling alley, four pickleball courts, gym, cinema, bars, hobby shed, caravan and boat parking and bowling green.
Wood said civil works were likely to begin in the middle of this year.
The resort was unanimously approved at a meeting this month of Western Australia’s Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel.
Panel member Dale Page said the site had been cleared previously so “undue environmental impacts” were unlikely.
“I think there’s a growing demand for accommodation like this and I think this is a great spot for it,” she said.
“[I am] particularly pleased to see the high quality of the facility for those people who will live in this development, not only the built form but the nature of the facilities.”
Page said she was heartened by the fact there were 96 submissions and only six objections received during the consultation process, which indicated a good awareness and strong show of community support for the resort.
