Two developers have been named as preferred proponents to help deliver a Perth CBD revitalisation project.
Oceania Capital Group has secured lots 12 and 18 at Perth’s Wellington Street as part of the final stages of the Perth City Link renewal project.
It plans to deliver a 32-storey build-to-rent tower of 200 apartments, and a 26-storey hotel tower.
Lower levels will include retail, food and beverage, childcare and recreational uses.
Meanwhile, Erben Place has secured lot 19 on Roe Street, which it plans to develop into a 19-storey student accommodation facility, next to the new $853-million Edith Cowan University City Campus that broke ground last year at Yagan Square.
The purpose-built student accommodation tower is designed to accommodate more than 1100 students, with a mix of apartments types and ground-floor retail, food and beverage uses.
The Perth City Link is a major project being undertaken by the WA Government’s Development WA agency, reconnecting the city centre with the Northbridge suburb, and has been ongoing for more than 20 years.
A draft masterplan for the area was launched for public consultation in January, 2007 and plans for an indicative masterplan were launched in 2003, and involved sinking the Fremantle railway line and Wellington Street bus station to create lots for development in the area.
It was a collaboration between the WA Government, the East Perth Redevelopment Authority, the Public Transport Authority and City of Perth to “reflect Perth’s 21st-century aspirations”.
The latest news fills in the project area, for which proposals have been ongoing for several years, the most recent being Far East Consortium’s 21-storey commercial tower, which was approved by Development WA last year.
