Renewal SA, on behalf of the Government of South Australia, is seeking expressions of interest for construction of a new Deeper Maintenance and Modification Facility (DMMF).
The DMMF will provide an important sovereign capability and is a significant development opportunity for South Australia, which will build on the state’s proud history of delivering some of Australia’s largest Defence projects.
The DMMF is intended to be operational in 2025 and will be a purpose-built 737 aircraft deeper maintenance and modification facility next to RAAF Base Edinburgh.
The new facility will provide the critical infrastructure necessary for the maintenance and upgrade of the RAAF P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft [pictured, top] and the RAAF E-7A Wedgetail airborne early warning and control aircraft.
Both aircraft have major modification programs planned over the latter half of this decade and this facility will enable that work to be conducted in Australia.
This is a unique opportunity to participate in the creation of a new defence capability next to one of the nation’s operational Defence super bases.
The facility will be located at 533 – 563 Womma Road, Penfield, and have a building footprint of about 20,700 square metres.
Four (4) aircraft maintenance hangars (to accommodate Boeing 737-variant aircraft)
Administration building
Warehouse and maintenance support areas
Staff and visitor carparking
Outdoor storage areas.
This development opportunity is being released under a modified GC21 contract, where only part of the facility (namely the hangars and associated areas) will be fully designed for construction.
The successful contractor will be required to finalise the design and construct the balance of the works.
Further information on this opportunity, the procurement process, evaluation methodology, and requirements are outlined in the following offer documents which are available through the SA Tenders website https://www.tenders.sa.gov.au/ (reference: URA053264).
