Lowe Living Unveils Luxury Units for Brighton Beach Site

Lowe Living has unveiled its luxury residential revamp of the Brighton Savoy, a landmark site on Melbourne’s Bayside.

The Melbourne-based developer and builder bought the hotel at 150 The Esplanade in Brighton, 13.5km from the Melbourne CBD, from the Lee family in an off-market deal in 2025

The Lee family had owned the hotel, which was built as a private home in 1909, for 55 years.

The building, on a 3386sq m corner site, was transformed into the four-star Savoy hotel, overlooking Brighton Beach, in 1959.

The hotel site was approved for ultra-luxury apartments prior to Lowe’s acquisition and the developer has now unveiled its own take on the project.

The “house-sized” apartments range from 174sq m to 375 square metres.

Toorak’s Studio Kennon were brought in as architects and interior designers, with Myles Baldwin as the landscape architect.

In addition, Sorrento-based Aurora Spa & Bathhouse is acting as the private “wellness curator” for a European-inspired spa with a hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room and Vichy shower.

The two and three-bedroom apartments start from $3.7 million with penthouses going for $16.2 million.

Initial estimates for the development suggested apartments would be priced from $5 million up to $20 million for the half-floor penthouses.

The project, near Church Street’s retail and dining precinct, has views of Port Phillip Bay and is close to the iconic Brighton Bathing Boxes, Royal Brighton Yacht Club and Middle Brighton Baths.

The two buildings have been designed around a central garden and reflection pool. It also features an underground porte cochere with a valet and concierge experience.

Lowe Living co-founder Emma Lowe called it a “legacy in the making”.

“Maison Savoy is one of our most curated and refined residential projects to date,” Lowe said.

“Sitting in such an esteemed and tightly held location like The Esplanade has called for a highly curated design response befitting of a very selective buyer.”

Lowe Living is starting construction on the project in early April and will launch sales simultaneously.

Lowe Living is not a stranger to reusing sites for luxury living, after receiving approval to redevelop a former private hospital in Parkdale in 2024, while also scooping up two sites in St Kilda and Hampton last year for new projects.
