Melbourne developer-builder Lowe Living has won approval for its plans to redevelop the site of a former private hospital in Melbourne’s Bayside into 45 luxury homes.
Lowe Living has successfully navigated what has been described as “restrictive planning controls” for the site at Parkdale, about 30km south of the CBD, to progress the developer’s 17th project.
The 4771sq m site at 152 Como Parade was sold to Lowe Living at the end of 2023 and adds $66 million to its portfolio.
The Jackson Clement Burrows-designed residences will be aimed at downsizers and rightsizers looking for a contemporary home near the beach, transport and local amenity.
Lowe Living co-founder Emma Lowe said the Parkdale site was one of the last significant developable sites in the area.
“The scale of the land afforded us the flexibility to deliver premium residences while maintaining a low-density profile,” Lowe, who is also managing director, said.
“This is one of the last supersites in the area, and we approached the design with both the community and the site’s potential in mind.”
This is Lowe Living’s third project at Parkdale after its Topaz and Kallara House developments.
The residences will comprise a mix of one, two and three-bedroom formats and construction is slated to begin next year.
“Melbourne’s Bayside is experiencing unmitigated growth as economic factors and a lack of developable sites is pushing growth exponentially outwards,” Lowe said.
Lowe Living hopes to capture the pent-up demand for high-quality, contemporary designed apartments in the Bayside area.
