At Urbanity '17 we will strive to maintain the workshop spirit. We reckon that keeping some presentations small and intimate offers an opportunity to discuss ideas in an informal, friendly and supportive atmosphere.

What will I learn?

Reaching the millennial market remains one of our biggest challenges. There exists a mismatch between the needs of millennials and the offer of current property ventures. This interactive, hands-on workshop invites participants to understand the current landscape and use innovative tools to develop products and services which meet the needs of the millennial market. Building on evidence-based decision-making we also showcase a successful case study of this practice in action.

When:

Thursday 28 September, 10:45am - 12:30pm

Who will be leading the workshop?

Giuseppe 'Pino' Demaio

has an interesting background that includes a stint as Senior Art Director at Nike EMEA, Global Football Brand Design Team (2007-2009), prior to founding the Melbourne-based brand communications agency Local Peoples.  Giuseppe is also a co-founder of Assemble, an architecture and property development company and publishes Assemble Papers, an online publication covering architecture, art, design, urbanism, the environment and financial affairs. In 2013, Giuseppe and his brother Alessandro founded NCDFREE, a global movement against non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

What will I learn?

Vibrant public spaces are one of the major drivers of innovation in cities and towns. They increase inclusivity, improve health, expand access to opportunities, and drive change that benefits everyone. While it's easy to talk about creating thriving places, its much harder to achieve in practice.

Practical placemaking can help. With experience across 70 placemaking projects in Australia, CoDesign Studio has pioneered a simple four-step methodology to help you activate places and get results in 90 days. Using Brisbane as your laboratory, this masterclass will step practical steps for understanding how places work, mobilising stakeholders and developing quick urban interventions can radically transform and speed up the process of planning.

When:

Thursday 28 September, 1:30pm - 3:00pm
