Despite the global economic and health impact of the coronavirus in 2020, the Australian property industry has remained resilient.
Groundbreaking projects of all sizes and across all sectors have still been delivered to the highest global standards by industry-leading organisations and businesses—all under new, restrictive “Covid-safe guidelines”.
Recognising standout performers from across Australasia, The Urban Developer Awards will be delivered digitally this year, with the previously held black-tie gala dinner replaced with Winner’s Month—a month-long virtual feature.
“The awards provide a platform for us to celebrate leadership and success in the industry, while providing a showcase to the broader community of the people, programs, places and projects that are positively shaping our cities,” The Urban Developer founder and chief executive Adam Di Marco said.
“We believe that by doing so, we will continue to promote a better industry that will contribute to better and more sustainable urban, economic and social outcomes.
“At its core, 2020 reminds us that both our natural world and the marvels we have created on it are inherently fragile, while our strength lies in the people and places that call it home.”
Since launching in 2018, the program has evolved to become the largest independent property awards in the Asia Pacific region.
Last year, the awards’ second edition celebrated the best in Australasian urban development with more than 100 finalists recognised across 20-plus categories.
Winners, awarded by an extensive group of independent judges, were acknowledged for their trailblazing approach to urban development, and showcased for their positive impacts and city-shaping initiatives.
Revisiting last year’s top gongs, recipients underscored the importance of the annual awards in bringing visibility to their work and in recognising excellence across our region’s broad and competitive property sector.

New Communities
Summer Hill
EG
“The heart of EG’s Flour Mill at Summer Hill’s vision is community connection and this was considered many years before any resident moved into the site.
“From honouring its industrial legacy with restoration of heritage elements, to designing 5000sq m of public space to physically allow the community to come together, EG has held community central throughout the process.
“EG was humbled to accept this award as recognition by our industry peers for the legacy the Flour Mill of Summer Hill has built.
“It will no doubt, support EG to demonstrate the importance and value of considering community in all residential development sites that follow.”

“Given the state of the market, track record, integrity and honesty becomes even more important, and awards are a validation of these actions.”
