Victorian Site Wins Australia's First Industrial Six-Star Green Star Rating

CEVA-3_620x380

The Green Building Council of Australia have awarded the industrial sector's first 6 Star Green Star rating to a super-site in Truganina, Victoria.

Developed and managed by Frasers Property Australia, the site, located at 38A Efficient Drive in West Park Industrial Estate is the first industrial project in Australia to achieve this rating. It was purpose-built for Ceva Logistics and comprises 74,546 square metres.

Frasers' Anthony Maugeri said the green star rating achievement would reinforce the company's commitment to achieving world leadership environmental credentials.

“The operational cost savings that have been created are not only significant to the bottom line for the customer, but also reduce our carbon footprint. We will continue to find ways to create greater efficiencies in all of our warehouses," he said.

Key sustainability features of the Truganina site include solar, LED lighting, rainwater collection and reuse systems to feed landscape irrigation and toilets and transport facilities.

A whole life-cycle assessment of the embodied carbon -- the carbon dioxide emitted during manufacture, transport and construction of building materials -- was completed, allowing Frasers Property to make design changes to reduce embodied carbon by 71 per cent.

GBCA Chief Executive Officer Romilly Madew said the organisation was pleased with Frasers sustainable initiative.

"Several initiatives – from the full lifecycle assessment to the education of contractors on site – are leading edge and will drive market transformation throughout the industrial sector."

In addition to the super-site, two new purpose-built premises in Melbourne will also target 6 Star Green Star ratings.
