Gavin Ashley

Head of better cities and regions, and director of sustainability, HIP V HYPE

Gavin mid

Background: Gavin has more than 15 years of expertise in urban development and sustainability. He excels in climate mitigation and adaptation planning, crafting policies and frameworks for sustainable urban growth.

Company focus: HIP V HYPE, a leader in sustainable property development, focuses on net-zero emissions through eco-friendly construction, renewable energy integration, and best practice sustainability consulting, enhancing social, environmental, and economic outcomes in urban spaces.

Projects: The company has undertaken numerous initiatives that exemplify their commitment to sustainability like Ferrars and York and Ruskin Elwood.

Recognition: Gavin played a key role in creating the Sustainable Subdivisions Framework and the award-winning Green Infrastructure Assessment Tool for Melbourne.



Joe Grasso

Founder and managing director, Figurehead Construction

Background: Joe Grasso leads construction firm Figurehead, known for high-quality residential and commercial developments.

Company focus: Figurehead’s disciplined approach to construction management since 2007 has evolved to consider today’s science-backed sustainability testing requirements for clients, minimising environmental impact during construction and for building occupants.

Projects: Figurehead have recently delivered 6-star Greenstar for Decjuba’s head office at Cremorne, as well as its own carbon neutral office building 116 Rokeby, which also targets a Platinum WELL certification, and completed the Clifton Hill Primary School project to meet Passivhaus targets.

Mission: Considered impact has been a mantra of Joe’s through Figurehead group’s growth in recent years, recognising the urgency to build a more sustainable future.




Maoibh Russell

Partner, Mitchell Brandtman

Experience:
Maoibh has more than 16 years of extensive experience in quantity surveying. As the director of the Design and Procurement Department and Asset Management Team, she works on large-scale commercial, residential, infrastructure, government, and mining projects.

Company focus: Mitchell Brandtman provides cost planning, infrastructure advisory, and asset management solutions that support net-zero goals by promoting efficient resource use and sustainable development practices.

Notable roles: Key contributor to several high-profile projects, recognised for expertise in cost planning and risk management.

Recognition: Renowned in the industry for exceptional service and commitment to excellence, acknowledged by peers and professional bodies for significant contributions to the field.
