Urbanity 2024: Full Program Released

urb program launch

The Urban Developer is excited to unveil the full program for Urbanity 2024, its premier event set to shape the future of urban development. This year’s conference promises an exceptional lineup of more than 50 renowned speakers and 30 thought-provoking sessions, all designed to inspire and challenge industry professionals.

Event overview

Dates: 30 July- 1 August 2024
Location: The Star, Gold Coast

Urbanity 2024 will feature three stages—the Main Stage, Market Hall, and Think Tanks—each hosting sessions on topics ranging from the integration of AI in urban environments, and innovative urban planning to net-zero nation-building, designing for country and wellness in development. Attendees can engage in insightful debates, hands-on workshops, and extensive networking opportunities.

We’re also delighted to be welcoming the founder and chairman of one of Australia’s most prolific and high-profile developers, Clement Lee of Riverlee to the stage as our CityShaper for 2024. Key milestone projects under Clement’s leadership include the $550-million Seafarers development in Melbourne, which features the city’s first international hotel-branded residences, and a new public park along the Yarra River.

2024 Themes

Net-Zero Nation-Building

How will the transition to net zero collide with the need to build cities of the future? Explore the government policies, investment pipeline, construction technologies, major infrastructure projects and decarbonisation strategies required to achieve long-term sustainability in the built environment.

Rapid Housing Solutions

The chronic housing shortage in Australia, and across the world, requires radical solutions. What are these solutions and how can the industry adopt them at scale? We explore the planning policies that work, innovative development models, funding solutions, design typologies, new construction technologies and the disruptors driving all of this change.

Humanising Cities

As cities densify and the role of technology becomes more pervasive, how can urban precincts—and the people who shape them—ensure that humans are at the centre of them? We explore the projects and people leading the way in biophilic design, human-centred design, designing for Country, designing for all and an ageing demographic.

Artificial Urban Intelligence

It’s happening. We now live in an age of artificial intelligence (AI). How will the rapid advancement of AI reshape the way we design and build cities? And how will we, as humans, interact differently with the physical and digital environment? We explore this critical topic by bringing together global experts for the most important discussion of this decade.

Planning for Advanced Cities

In the wake of radical change, how do we plan for these advanced cities of the future against a changing tide of community expectations? We explore the clash of NIMBY and YIMBY, new transport modes such as eVTOLs, construction innovations including mass timber and robotics, and hear from experts at the centre of this change.
