Regulator Maps State’s Riskiest Suburbs for Building Defects

Builders working in Queensland’s highest-risk suburbs are under the microscope, whether they have a track record of problems or not. 

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission’s (QBCC) newly deployed Audit Mapper tool combines defect trends, licensee risk and warranty data to direct inspectors toward sites before issues escalate, with more than 4000 proactive inspections already carried out.

The QBCC said the tool tells inspectors and homeowners where to focus their attention, and flags any previously detected unlicensed work at a site so completed work can be checked for compliance.
