Triguboff Files Next Tobacco Land Twin Towers

Meriton has filed another set of towers in the $3 billion Pagewood Green project in Sydney’s eastern suburbs next to Westfield Eastgardens.

Meriton has filed another set of towers in the $3-billion Pagewood Green project in Sydney next to Westfield Eastgardens.

Two 20-storey buildings with 385 apartments were filed for the former British American Tobacco Australia factory at 128 Bunnerong Road and 120 Banks Avenue, Pagewood.

The latest application of the nine-part project was for Lot D with a $237 million cost to develop the 9290sq m site at 106 Banks Road.

WMK Architecture designed the twin towers that would predominantly have two-bedroom apartments along with 484 carparking spaces in three basement levels.

Site Image landscape architects outlined a pool to be built on level one, between the towers and surrounding trees, planter boxes and a barbecue area with picnic tables.

The larger vision for the area was for 3000 apartments to be built over decade.

Billionaire developer Harry Triguboff picked up the original 10.5ha parcel for Pagewood Green for $140 million in 2013.

A further 6ha was purchased in 2015 for $90 million and the project was launched the following year.

The final 2.7ha was purchased in 2021 as a “counter-cyclical play”, which paid off as median apartment prices for Eastgardens edge around the million-dollar mark.

A few weeks ago, Meriton filed plans for the other side of the block at 2 Tingwell Boulevard, Eastgardens.

The 214-apartment plans for two smaller buildings also connected by a podium base had a cost of $131 million on Lot C.

These projects moved to the NSW State Significant Development Application process shortly after lodgement with Bayside Council.
