Stockland Breaks Ground on Sunshine Coast Town Centre

The first stage of the town centre for Stockland’s masterplanned community Aura on the Sunshine Coast has begun.
The inital stage of the centre comprises 16,300sq m across two levels. The precinct will include Woolworths and Aldi supermarkets as well as “mini-majors” and 55 retailers and kiosks.
There are also three non-retail tenancies for service providers including health and wellness uses included for the project that was approved in June 2025.
Stockland Aura is at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, centered around the suburb of Banya, and about 1.6 to 6km east of the Bruce Highway.
The town centre development neighbours the 5.3ha Aura Parklands, which includes a swimming lagoon, barbecue and picnic areas, and event spaces. Stockland began construction of the parklands in June 2025.
The town centre is also next to the $45-million Aura Hotel, being developed by prolific hospitality operator and developer the Comiskey Group and scheduled to open in 2027.
The Aura community is expected to become home to 50,000 residents across 20,000 homes.
Developed, owned and managed by Stockland, the Aura Town Centre is being built by FDC Construction & Fitout and is expected to open in late 2027.
Stockland executive general manager for town centres Marco Ettorre said the project “showcases the strength of Stockland’s diversified business”.
There are plans for a 13ha regional park and 10 sporting grounds across the wider Aura community.
Stockland is upgrading roads in the locale that are expected open later this year.
Another large format retail and precinct, the $80-million Aura Home + Life precinct being delivered by Capital Property Group, is expected to open in by the middle of this year.
