Rare Newcastle Wharf Project Now Accepting EOIs

Queens Wharf is Newcastle’s premier waterfront destination. A place where vibrant public spaces, cultural expression and economic opportunity come together.

With a prime wharf location and active ferry connection, it offers locals and visitors an open invitation to explore, connect and create lasting memories.

Anchored in Newcastle’s story, Queens Wharf plays a key role in shaping the city’s future as a liveable, sustainable, inclusive and global destination.

A rare opportunity on the water’s edge

A once-in-a-generation opportunity to participate in the revitalisation of a landmark waterfront destination in the heart of the city of Newcastle is open for expressions of interest.

Queens Wharf is a stunning waterfront destination on the water’s edge and in the beating heart of Newcastle’s historic East End.

The redevelopment opportunity is presented by the City of Newcastle and offers the chance to reimagine this unique location into a destination that sparks growth, engagement and innovation while respecting culture, economy and the environment.

Create Newcastle’s premier waterfront destination

Play a pivotal role in transforming a prominent foreshore precinct in the heart of the city by activating Queens Wharf West, a publicly owned waterfront asset with a high-quality hospitality and lifestyle offering.

While this opportunity focuses on the western building, it also supports the long-term revitalisation of the broader Queens Wharf precinct, in line with the City of Newcastle’s adopted foreshore masterplan and complementary projects such as the NSW Government’s Honeysuckle HQ.

Together, these initiatives will reinvigorate the Hunter River foreshore as a destination of choice for Newcastle and the wider Hunter region.

Newcastle is undergoing rapid transformation, supported by significant public and private investment in infrastructure, transport, tourism and urban renewal.

The city continues to attract more visitors and residents each year, driving demand for new dining, hospitality and cultural experiences.

Queens Wharf’s location, next to the Hunter River and close to the city’s vibrant multicultural heart, is uniquely placed for revitalisation.

Its renewal forms part of Newcastle’s long-term strategy, shaped through thoughtful collaboration with stakeholders and engagement with the community.

Collaborate with the City of Newcastle and the community

This is a chance to collaborate with City of Newcastle to redevelop Queens Wharf as a diverse mixed-use precinct and attraction for Newcastle as the capital of the region.

Recent community engagement showed overwhelming support for the project and enthusiasm for a reimagined Queens Wharf.

The City of Newcastle is now inviting expressions of interest (EOI) from interested parties with the vision, experience, capability and capacity to deliver the project, meet City of Newcastle’s objectives and respond to community feedback.
