The latest ABS Net Interstate Migration data shows that QLD has bounced back with a vengeance over the quarter ending December 2011.
QLD bounced back, increasing by 82% since the same time the previous year and in raw numbers registering the greatest growth of any state at the end of December 2011.
Western Australia on the other hand has shown the greatest percentage increase, rocketing 114% over the year - their biggest increase in residents since 1985.
Falling off the back of its recent population spurt, VIC decreased by 35% over the year ending December 2011.
VIC is still producing the greatest volume of dwelling unit commencements in the country at the end of March 2012 yet this has been trending south since peaking in September 2010.
All states and territories over the year ending March 2012 registered a decline in the number of dwelling unit commencements.
QLD and VIC decreased by 12.3% and 15.1% respectively with NSW dropping a whopping 41.7% over the year ending March 2012.
