A private developer has responded to growing demand for "pocket penthouses" by creating one-bedroom apartments on a building’s prime penthouse level in Sydney's Olympic Park.
From atop the eye-catching 25-storey
ATII tower, these apartments capture expansive views – north over Homebush Bay to Chatswood, east to the Sydney CBD, south over Bicentennial Park to Sydney Airport and west to the Blue Mountains.
Colliers International says the one-bedroom penthouses are designed specifically for professional singles and couples who want to live a pampered lifestyle without having to pay for extraneous space.
The eight ‘pocket-penthouses’ at ATII range in size from 54 to 71 square metres internally, and start from $599,000 with car parking.
Four are on the penthouse level, and four on the 24
th
floor.
“Traditional penthouses are proving too large for most people’s needs,” said David Chittenden, the General Manager of Colliers International, “yet plenty of people still covet a penthouse lifestyle at an affordable price. I’m sure pocket-penthouses will be emulated by other developers.”
The apartments offer floor-to-ceiling glass windows, stone bench tops, full-height ceramic floor and wall tiles in the bathroom along with architecturally-styled chrome fittings, fixtures, tapware and accessories.
Developed by Ecove,
ATII is being built next to Australia Towers, which is now home to around 600 permanent residents. A third and final tower will be launched next year, giving the Australia Towers precinct more than 800 apartments.
“We have already sold more than 350 apartments here because people want to live in Sydney’s sporting, entertainment and recreational heart, with 430-hectares of parklands as their backyard,” said Mr Chittenden.
