Construction has officially commenced on a new 787 bed development in Brisbane, developed by student accommodation provider Scape.

National property and construction company Hindmarsh has been appointed to design and construct the approximately $95 million Vulture Street project.

Hindmarsh CEO Rowan Hindmarsh and National Construction Manager Jonathan De Puit joined Scape Managing Director Stephen Gaitanos, Executive Director Craig Carracher and Development Director Gary Eckersall and other special guests for the project inception event which was held this week.

Mr Gaitanos said the ceremony marks the beginning of a new era for students in Brisbane, while Mr Hindmarsh said he is looking forward to delivering a new standard of student accommodation Brisbane students.

"This is an important development to support recent investments in education and infrastructure in Queensland and we’re proud to be playing a pivotal role,” Mr Hindmarsh said.

The development will be ready for student occupation in 2018.

Hindmarsh anticipates that around 2,000 workers will be engaged over the duration of the project, with local suppliers and contractors to account for the majority of the workforce on site.

Scape Brisbane has been designed to have a campus feel with a range of communal areas and additional facilities including quiet study areas, relaxed lounges, a gym and other inspiring spaces. It's rooms will feature bedding with private en suite and storage space, fully fitted kitchenette and a generous desk study space.

Located within easy reach of several universities, a buzzing night life and with easy access to transportation links.

Scape Brisbane's location on Vulture Street has given it the opportunity to act as its own community, with its own fully integrated student hub and within easy reach of several Brisbane universities, public transport and the city's night life.

Queensland is a key growth market for Hindmarsh, which is currently completing the Zest and Broadway on Ann residential projects in Brisbane. The company previously delivered the Brooklyn on Brookes apartment project in the CBD.
