New Era of Integrated Expertise for INT.RE

Following a 25-year journey since it was first established in 1999, Icon Developments has unveiled a new brand that will consolidate its status as a fully integrated real estate, development and finance solutions business.

The group will now be known as Integrated RE Pty Ltd, presented simply as INT.RE (pronounced ‘inter’).

According to chief executive Matthew Bourke, “INT.RE sets itself apart with a property-first, investment-led philosophy, which is supported by our in-house multi-disciplinary expertise in development and finance that drives investment returns through quality development projects.”

The rebrand comes at a time of significant growth for INT.RE, as the strategy to expand their existing pipeline into industrial and hospitality plays out in real time with recent acquisitions into both sectors.

INT.RE, investing off Kajima’s balance sheet, has material capital commitments into 15 development projects across Australia and New Zealand, primarily focusing on Melbourne and Sydney.

The business has quietly amassed a portfolio of $1.5 billion across residential, office, mixed-use assets including more recent moves into industrial and hospitality.

Focusing on hospitality, INT.RE has recently commenced construction on its first hotel project, the Florin Hotel, in Sydney’s Kent Street with JV partner Icon Oceania.

The $275-million development, built by Hickory and designed by award-winning practice SJB Architects, will deliver a luxury five-star 228-key hotel within the heritage-listed former Universal Pictures Australia building.

Operated by EVT Hotels & Resorts under its Independent Collection portfolio upon completion, the hotel will feature a two-level rooftop bar and infinity pool, along with the “Vertigo Suite”—a one-of-a-kind room designed to deliver a dramatic outlook with views in multiple directions to Sydney’s CBD and Darling Harbour.

In Melbourne, INT.RE is progressing the commercial office project, Cremorne Place (pictured top), in partnership with Zagame Property. The 13,500sq m NLA development at 120 Cremorne Street will deliver a design-led workplace and retail precinct with terraces on every level showing off unrivalled panoramic city and river views, with completion scheduled for May 2026.

The business has also recently expanded into the industrial sector, with two new acquisitions soon to be announced. INT.RE’s maiden logistics development, 1Broadfield Logistics Estate in Melbourne’s West, is scheduled to welcome its first tenant in mid-November, with additional leasing opportunities still available.

Bourke said, “Value creation is at our core, underpinning every decision we make, whether it be a property or finance outcome. We are always striving for value improvement and delivery excellence.

“We will continue to look to grow our investment footprint across the key primary markets via existing and new JV partner relationships, whilst also targeting direct development opportunities.

“The creation of our new brand is a significant achievement; however, it’s only a brand; the real challenge will be in integrating our unique business offer as we charter new projects and future investment partnerships.”

“Our new name was carefully selected to capture the many capabilities of the INT.RE business model, we feel it highlights the evolution from a small local developer into the scalable property & finance house we are today,” Bourke said.

Parent company Kajima Corporation assumed full ownership of INT.RE, then known as Icon Developments, in 2020.
