MMC Adoption Will Ease Housing Strain: Jamie Durie

Jamie Durie's new home will be 3D printed for the series Future House.

Householders and governments need education and encouragement to take up modern methods of construction, industry voices say, but demonstrating the cost and sustainability benefits will be an easy task.

Speakers at The Urban Developer’s Sydney Long Lunch, held on November 27 at the Hyatt Regency Sydney, said that MMC would play an increasingly important role in creating denser, more sustainable urban environments as stakeholders embrace the techniques and materials.

Durie Design principal Jamie Durie said that Future House, his latest television series, was putting the spotlight on MMC for “mums and dads and even investors, who may not be aware of some of these methods, and may look at MMCs as a cheaper form of construction, rather than the future of construction”.
