Let the summit begin! After much political ado and media hype, 100 of Australia’s big business, union and industry power brokers will sit down with the federal government on Thursday to nut out potential answers to the nation’s economic challenges.
On the agenda for the two-day Jobs and Skills Summit at Canberra’s Parliament House are key issues including the labour shortage, skilled migration, training, growing productivity, sustainable wage growth and the future of the enterprise bargaining system.
Pulling no punches will be the building and construction industry, which has shouldered much of the responsibility for shepherding the economy through the pandemic and underpinning its recovery.
