High-profile developer Gurner Group has added a 14-luxury-apartment project in Melbourne’s Prahran to its pipeline.
Planned for the site of the 130-year former St Matthew’s Sunday School and Church Hall site, the project has been dubbed Highgrove Place.
Gurner bought the site off market in 2021.
Built in 1891 and designed by architect Laver and Fick, the gothic architecture, stone masonry and ornate arches of the original site “will be highlighted throughout Highgrove Place, with award-winning practice Cera Stribley appointed as architect and Gurner Design House leading the interior design”, the developer said.
The apartments will range from two-bedroom and two-bathroom homes to a $7.9-million penthouse that includes a grand dining room that opens to a private terrace space overlooking Melbourne’s skyline, designed by John Patrick Landscape Architects.
Rooftop amenities will include a sauna, spa, yoga deck, lounge, dining, hot and cold plunge pools, and lounge and entertainment areas.
Ground-floor retail and hospitality spaces are also planned.
Level 1 will comprise a full-floor premium commercial space with its own grand staircase and entry.
The developer said the development was “a response to a rapidly growing demand from downsizers, right-sizers and discerning young couples choosing location and lifestyle over suburban sprawl”.
“We are investing further in the boutique space because we strongly believe in the future of luxury owner-occupier living,” Gurner founder Tim Gurner said.
“People are making lifestyle-first decisions, choosing to live where they love.”
Krongold Construction had been appointed to build Highgrove Place and would begin construction in the third quarter of this year, the developer said.
