A six-storey hotel with 180-degree views of Darwin Harbour has been proposed for the Waterfront precinct of the Northern Territory capital.

Designed by Darwin-based Ashford Lamaya Architects, the hotel would comprise 54 two-bedroom and 54 one-bedroom suites.

Planning documents say the 4080sq m development site at 39 Stokes Hill Road has uninterrupted views across Darwin Harbour to the east and south-east.

A feature of the hotel would be its integration with the Darwin Waterfront precinct and pedestrian and cycling networks.

A new pedestrian path accessible to the public would be built along the harbour frontage, connecting the hotel to the planned Larrakia Cultural Centre.

The Darwin Waterfront precinct includes the convention centre, a wave park, campus of Charles Darwin University, a sandy beach, and restaurants and shops.

The hotel would offer end-of-trip facilities including 42 bicycle parks, a universal access shower and 38 lockers. There would also be 56 car parks and three motorcycle bays.

A swimming pool, gym and barbecue area would be on the rooftop.

The plans were filed on behalf of The Pumphouse Gang Pty Ltd, a director of which told The Urban Developer the development site had been sold to Ashford Lamaya.

The plans are open for public comment until June 26. The Urban Developer contacted Ashford Lamaya for comment.
