Australia’s only VIP casino, Crown Sydney will start its gaming operations on August 8.
The news comes just weeks after the Federal Court approved the takeover of the Crown businesses by international alternative investment firm Blackstone.
The Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority approved the conditional gaming operations for the casino in June.
Crown Sydney has two gaming floors, the Crystal Room and the Mahogany Room with 12 exclusive private sky salons on levels 28 and 29.
The casino has 160 gaming tables and 70 electronic table games along with dining options and outdoor terraces.
Crown Sydney chief executive Simon McGrath said the Crystal Room would open in August while the opening of the Mahogany Room was planned for later.
“The opening of our gaming operations at Crown Sydney is a defining moment for Crown, and the culmination of months of hard work from our dedicated team,” McGrath said.
Architects Bates Smart designed the interiors for the casino with floor to ceiling windows and views over the harbour.
“We are committed to delivering a safe and responsible gaming environment for all, and Crown Sydney’s restricted gaming facility has been designed with the highest levels of governance and compliance,” McGrath said.
“It is the only casino of its kind in Australia, with all patrons required to be a member or guest of a member and undergo comprehensive checks.”
SS Silver II, an entity owned by or advised by Blackstone Inc and other Blackstone Group affiliates, acquired the Crown businesses.
Crown's biggest shareholder, James Packer, received $3.36 billion for his 37 per cent stake after more than 90 per cent of the shareholders voted in favour of the deal.
