Bedding Down Landscaping A Growing Concern In Property Industry

The-Stores-West-End-2

Once seen as a last minute add-on or afterthought, the field of landscaping construction and maintenance is increasingly growing in importance for property developers and owners.

The bottom-line benefits that professional, cutting-edge landscaping can provide in differentiating properties can no longer be ignored by those seeking an advantage in the competitive property market. There is also rising recognition that getting the landscaping job done right the first time will sow the seeds for long-term sustainability and savings.

Brothers Will and Jack Martin oversee a thriving young Brisbane company that is at the forefront of these trends, and services some of Brisbane’s largest property developers and owners.

Will, 23, and Jack, 21, have built their Martin Brothers business from the ground up over the past two years into a team of more than 20 tending to the landscaping construction and ongoing landscape maintenance needs of a diverse range of residential projects, retail, office and industrial properties, business parks, car yards and hotels and motels across the city.

Their clients include the likes of Mirvac’s Tennyson Reach development, Sentinel Property Group, Property Solutions, Pellicano Group, The George Group, Westpoint Auto and many leading property managers, building representatives and landscape architects.

Martin Brothers has completed the construction of a number of showcase landscaping projects for the James Street retail precinct in Fortitude Valley, including a striking rooftop garden for the flagship Brisbane outlet of US homewares chain Pottery Barn (above).

The company also did the landscaping work for The Stores fresh food market in West End and will soon commence work on the landscaping component of the landmark The Johnson luxury boutique hotel in Spring Hill, the first in Brisbane by The Art Series Hotel Group.

Will said Martin Brothers has capitalised on the increasing importance placed on value-adding and cost-saving benefits in landscaping construction and maintenance by developers, owners and managers across all property sectors.

“There is a lot more focus being put on the presentation of the landscaping across all types of properties, whereas once they were just dropped in at the last minute with no ongoing maintenance plan,” Will said.

“With residential and retail properties in particular, the landscape can really help to differentiate and add value. But even in the industrial and business park sectors, the quality of landscaping and its upkeep shows that the owner cares, is actively involved in the property and is committed to attracting and retaining tenants and keeping their customers happy.”

Tennyson Reach by MirvacJack said the big point of difference for Martin Brothers is their fully-integrated, one-stop-shop service offering covering both landscaping construction and ongoing maintenance.

“This has been a big plus for us in dealing with property developers and owners as they are attracted to having just the one easy point of contact,” Jack said. “What is really important is to get the process right from the start. There is a big difference when it comes to a high quality job and a quick add-on, and a high quality job is much easier to maintain in the long term.”

The dynamic Martin brothers have aggressively grown their business since it was founded by focussing on consistent high-quality service delivery and attention to detail, which has helped to create strong relationships and positive word of mouth referrals with property developers, owners and landscape architects.

Reflecting their growth, the company has recently moved into prominent new headquarters on McLachlan Street in Fortitude Valley.

“When we started out, it was all about perseverance and it is the same now. We prove to people that we can do the job better than it has been done before, and then we consistently deliver a professional and reliable service with an owner’s eye to detail,” Jack said.

While young and full of energy and ambition, they have also harnessed the experience of an older team of workers, many of whom have previously been sole operators in the industry but are happier to be employed and just focussed on doing great work.

“We are passionate about growing the business and the sky is the limit. Since finding our true niche of high-end landscaping for both residential and commercial developments, we have fine-tuned our teams, systems and processes to ensure we maintain exceptional quality while we grow. There is an exciting future ahead for Martin Brothers,” Jack said.
