Asahi, Goodman’s $150m Redbank Logistics Mega-Facility Under Way

Japanese-owned beer and soft drinks giant Asahi is adding considerable fizz to Goodman Group’s Redbank Motorway Estate south-west of Brisbane.
It has partnered with the ASX-listed industrial property powerhouse, breaking ground on a $150-million distribution mega-facility.
Slated to be fully operational by 2028, the high-tech 48,500sq m warehouse will integrate sophisticated robotics and a high-speed shuttle system designed to streamline its logistics network.
Asahi’s pre-commitment underscores the strengthening demand for prime industrial space equipped for the evolving new era of automation.
The start of construction at Redbank marks a milestone in the company’s national distribution transformation.
It is one of three new state-of-the-art distribution centres Asahi Beverages is building into its network across Australia’s east coast, including facilities in Melbourne and Sydney.
The Redbank facility will undergo a complex 12-month automation fit-out and commissioning phase following the initial base build.
Construction firm McNab has been tapped to deliver the project, which is expected to inject about 300 full-time jobs into the local economy.
In line with intensifying ESG mandates across the commercial property sector, the new Asahi facility is targeting a 5 Star Green Star rating. Sustainability initiatives integrated into the design include a one-megawatt solar array, 50,000 litres in rainwater collection tanks for amenities and irrigation, and native landscaping.

Chief supply chain officer Adrian Benson said with more than 97 per cent of the beverages Asahi sell in Australia now being made in Australia, the new facility would drive significant commercial and environmental efficiencies.
“The development will help Asahi simplify our warehousing and distribution network along Australia’s east coast while delivering sustainability benefits via more efficient distribution routes,” he said.
“The investment means more customers can receive our full range of alcohol and non-alcohol beverages more efficiently with one order, one payment and delivery on one truck.”
Goodman Australia chief executive Jason Little said the company welcomed Asahi as a new, long-term customer to Redbank Motorway Estate.
“This site offers outstanding automation and logistics connectivity, providing the essential infrastructure needed to support Asahi’s growth and service across Queensland,” he said.
Asahi joins a blue-chip tenant roster at the Goodman-managed precinct, including Australia Post, FedEx, Coles, Visy, and Officeworks—which is currently constructing its own 77,100sq m automated distribution centre.
Supply chain consultancy TMX Transform has supported the project through network design, property procurement and project management services.
“Redbank is an excellent strategic fit for Asahi's Queensland operations,” TMX Transform head of operations Adam McDonald said.
“The location gives Asahi direct access to South-East Queensland’s major freight corridors, and the scale of the site supports the automation and throughput the network needs.”
