Queensland’s Spyre Group Greenlit for Victorian Debut

MLD Studio's render of the apartment project in Hampton, Melbourne by Queensland developer Spyre Group

A Queensland developer has won planning permission for its first residential project outside south-east Queensland for a site two states away.

Spyre Group has been greenlit by the City of Bayside for its residential project at 24-28 Thomas Street and 36-38A Deakin Street North at Hampton, Victoria.

The project, designed by MLD Studio, will consist of 23 apartments across three buildings on the 2336sq m site.

Building A facing Thomas Street will have two ground floor apartments and two multi-storey apartments.

The second building, Building B, is on the corner of Thomas Street and Deakin North with three townhouse-style apartments.

The final building, Building C, faces Deakin Street North and will comprise six ground floor apartments, six first floor apartments and four apartments on the second floor.

There were 37 objections from the community relating to setbacks and the bulk of the project.

▲ Spyre Group has tapped Contrast Constructions to deliver its luxury six-apartment project Moray House at New Farm.

Spyre Group declined to comment on the project but confirmed that it was the developer’s debut outside south-east Queensland.

Founded in 2008, the developer focuses on residential development, managed property trusts and property advisory and has created more than $750 million in luxury developments.

Spyre Group is also developing Moray House at New Farm, and Arc on a riverfront site at Toowong.
