RLB is continuing to reward talent with the promotion of two new directors in Queensland.

RLB managing director Matt Long has announced the appointment of Raed Mitry and Jamie Smith as directors, Gerard McGuigan as a senior associate, and We Mild Spaulding and John Maggacis as associates—a move he says recognises the calibre of RLB’s people and the growth of the firm.

“These are important appointments for RLB in Queensland,” Long said.

“We are delighted to appoint directors of the calibre of these individuals. They are highly respected across the Queensland property and construction sector and consistently bring high-level proficiency to the team to deliver our clients goals.”

“This year is special to us as we celebrate 60 years since Rider Levett Bucknall’s establishment in Queensland in 1962.

“I am pleased to welcome Raed and Jamie to the leadership team as we enter an exciting next phase.

“I also congratulate Gerard McGuigan. We Mild Spaulding and John Maggacis on their appointments.”

Raed Mitry, director

Mitry joined RLB in 2007 and has 30 years’ experience working in construction sectors including geotechnical, commercial, infrastructure, marine, development and industrial projects.

Mitry has built a highly capable and growing infrastructure team servicing some of Queensland’s highest profile projects and clients.

Among his most recognisable projects are Inland Rail and Brisbane Metro. Mitry holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

 Jamie Smith, director

Smith has been a valuable member of RLB’s team since 2001, with four years in the firm’s Newcastle office and 11 in Sydney.

During his time with RLB, Smith has worked on a wide spectrum of projects ranging up to $3 billion and at all stages of project and program delivery.

Smith has worked on some of Brisbane's most iconic office projects and significant projects including the Redcliffe Hospital redevelopment, the Redland and Ipswich Hospital expansions, Sunshine Coast Entertainment, Convention & Exhibition Centre, and Queens Wharf in Brisbane.

He holds a Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) and a Graduate Certificate in Property.

Gerard McGuigan, senior associate

McGuigan brings 19 years' experience in cost management working in Australia and the UK to his new role.

Highly experienced in risk assessment and risk estimating, he is the team lead for risk advisory and has performed numerous roles for complex Queensland government projects such as Cross River Rail.

 We Mild Spaulding, associate

Spaulding has worked in the property and construction industry since 1993.

She has experience in a variety of services, with impressive major projects including the Queensland State Velodrome and the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.

John Maggacis, associate

Maggacis joined RLB in 2015 as a cadet quantity surveyor and completed his degree in 2017.

During this time he has been involved in a number of complex projects such as Queens Wharf and 300 George Street.
