Planners at 20 Paces Over Radisson RED Uplift at Adelaide’s Busiest Beach

A four-storey uplift of an approved tower that will become a Radisson RED hotel has sparked a backlash by consultants for competing inns before being approved for Adelaide’s busiest beach at Glenelg.

The hotel’s forthcoming Radisson RED brand was revealed during the approvals process for the height adjustment that will take the tower from 10 to 14 storeys. This follows an announcement last month that the Sydney locale of Haymarket would get Australia’s first Radisson RED hotel.

At a meeting of South Australia’s State Commission Assessment Panel on September 23, Future Urban executive chairman Chris Vounasis said the upscaled project responded to Glenelg’s position as a “hotspot” of unmet demand for tourist accommmodation.
