A planning application has been filed for two sites in the Victorian Alps after the state government’s call for development ideas at Mt Hotham.
The application lodged with the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning lists two sites, 24 and 34A Great Alpine Road in Hotham Heights.
Both are within the Hotham Central Precinct in the Mt Hotham Masterplan, according to the website of the Mt Hotham Resort Management Board, which is the statutory authority for the masterplan.
Albury-based Habitat Planning has filed plans for a four-storey, mixed-use building with basement car parking, retail premises, restaurant, function centre and office space.
A visitor centre or transit lounge is also part of the proposal as well as 27 car parking spaces.
Last year the Victorian government opened a tender process for developers to submit bids to develop one or more of four lots in the precinct.
Uses allowed include residential, hotel, retail, food and beverage and recreational.
The government said that it was keen to have a medical centre as part of the plans for one of the lots.
Hotham Central Precinct is one of five key precincts in the Mt Hotham Masterplan.
All developments are to result in long-term leases for the developers once the projects are completed and the land would remain leasehold crown land.
The Mt Hotham Resort Management Board is developing a site outside the tender process for a four-storey public building with office space, public facilities and other commercial services.
The Urban Developer contacted the board for comment.
