Boutique Hotel Operator Reworks $30m Pub Plan in Adelaide Hills

South Australian boutique hotel operator Piermont has filed revised plans for its $30-million Heysen Hotel in the booming Adelaide Hills town of Mount Barker.
The public comment period for Piermont’s proposal to change the parking layout and associated site levels and boundaries of its 2022-approved, three-storey hotel scheme closed this month.
Designed by Folland Panozzo Architects for an 18,396sq m site between a new KFC and an under-construction OTR service station on Heysen Boulevard, the project has a development area of 12,039 square metres.
On the ground floor would be a 247sq m lounge bar, 204sq m sports bar, 342sq m dining room, 87sq m smoking courtyard and a 285sq m gaming room with associated 26sq m outdoor smoking area.
An undercroft would house a a drive-through bottle shop and car spaces. And an upper floor would have 146sq m and 125sq m function rooms, a 124sq m kitchen, a 147sq m foyer and 49sq m of courtyard space.
It is scheduled to open next year.

The Mount Barker District Council is one of SA’s fastest growing local government areas. At June 30 last year, it had 45,111 people, up 3.2 per cent from a year before. This compared to a 1.27 per cent rise in the same period for the adjacent Greater Adelaide.
Piermont, which operates seven boutique hotels in and around Adelaide, was contacted for comment for this story.
