Lateral Reconfigures $29m Waterloo Co-Living Proposal

Sydney’s $13-billion Green Square transformation is spilling over as revised plans are filed for a $29-million co-living project for a site across the road.
State policy changes forced developer Lateral Estate to rework its original six-storey, 91-room boarding house proposal for 1049–1055 Bourke Street at Waterloo, which was approved in 2020.
New planning laws introduced in late 2021 made private boarding houses unviable as they must be run by a registered community housing provider and offer permanent affordable accommodation.
