How Wiseworking Goes Beyond Software

56f80a13-1066-4696-a896-6c6f75f3521a

Software is playing an important role in the delivery of property projects—technology has come a long way and an increasing number of builders and developers are benefiting from its use.

From humble beginnings 10 years ago, Wiseworking founder Justin Williams, who is the chief executive, has developed an enviable portfolio of digital solutions, all targeted at data capture, eliminating inefficiencies, streamlining workflows and improving quality of information, speed of delivery and ultimately improving the end product.

“I have always been passionate about the property industry,” Williams said.

“As an engineer, I was always looking at the business systems and how we could improve them.

“When I left one the largest building companies in Australia to found Wiseworking, all I really set out to achieve was to bring these systems to many more projects, no matter how big (or small) or diverse.”

This passion resonates throughout the team at Wiseworking, a group equally comfortable on the building site, running training sessions, coding or undertaking on-site inspections, as it is behind the scenes working on custom technology solutions of their clients.

“Being based in Australia, our strength has always been the ability to adapt solutions to ever-changing client needs and industry requirements. Wiseworking is more than just a software company,” Williams said.

The marque program at Wiseworking is ConstructionID, which is the culmination of continued years of investment and software development covering an end-to-end solution (from project inception to delivery and post-delivery).

It is tried and tested also, having been used for the delivery of thousands of dwellings and commercial projects nationally.

“Our aim is to ensure compliance and transparency for our clients in centrally stored databases,” Williams said.

“Quality control and certifications remain central functions of ConstructionID. It’s much like the old saying ‘measure twice, cut once’ being applied to every part of the administration of a building project. It ensures quality and consistency.

“We couldn’t have envisaged the extent to which ConstructionID has evolved.

“It really offers a comprehensive suite of solutions that supports the successful delivery of the build, post-construction and maintenance phases of a construction project.

“If you have any clipboards still on your building site, it’s time to swap these out for a tablet.

“The past barriers to entry for technology adoption in the building sites are diminishing as the industry becomes more aware of the efficiencies and cost savings being realised.

“We know there are certain groups in the industry still hesitant to change but this is reducing over time.”

An important part of Wiseworking is the Innovation Hub, where in-house research and the study of key workflows are undertaken to understand current practices and where cost savings can be made.

This is where big-data analysis from the ConstructionID portfolio, time-motion studies, scrutiny of existing workflows and processes as well as assessing emerging technologies is undertaken.

“Wiseworking is continually improving its portfolio offerings and strengthening its capabilities via the Construction Innovator Hub,” Williams said.

“While the construction industry is creating future infrastructure and buildings, and the building maintenance industry is taking care of substantial maintenance schedules, we are studying and identifying ways to do things smarter and better.

“I am really excited about what the next 10 years holds for Wiseworking.

“We are growing a wealth of intellectual property related to the construction and building industries quality and efficiency practices.”
