Flour Mill Master Planned Community Brightens Summer Hill

1

EG has launched its new Flour Mill development in Summer Hill, which will be a re-imagination of the heritage Flour Mill industrial site.
The 300-apartment master-planned community was designed by award-winning architects

HASSELL, and will be delivered in two stages. Construction of the first stage is slated for early 2015.

HASSELL has drawn inspiration from the Flour Mill’s landmark silos to echo the site’s industrial proportions, retaining the heritage and form and redefining the structures to revitalise the site.

The apartments will feature terraces that have been designed to refine the existing terraces in Summer Hill’s surrounding streets, with buildings growing in scale as they meet the silos, now converted into unique apartments.

EG’s Development Director, Grant Flannigan says, “The Flour Mill is all about great living, established open spaces and connectivity – a place to live, to work and a place where it’s easy for people to get together.

“With heritage elements repurposed and contemporary style, the Flour Mill of Summer Hill is set to become a community for everyone.”

The plans also include a communal public park that will feature existing mature avenues of brushbox, and a new retail precinct including cafés and studio workspaces. Flour Mill will also be the future host for open-air weekend markets.

Flour Mill is located in close vicinity to transport options including train stations and Summer Hill’s new connection to the fast CBD light rail service, which is located directly on site.

Director of Colliers International Residential, Ian Barnett, says, “Summer Hill offers a great opportunity to find your own place in the inner west. The location is a favourite for locals for so many reasons including the charismatic village atmosphere, which is rich in cultural diversity. The Flour Mill of Summer Hill also has its own light rail station making it one of the most accessible locations in the suburb.”

The first release will consist of a diverse mix of dwellings, including 127 premium studios, 1,2 and 3 bedroom apartments, and 3 and 4 bedroom terraces.

The site’s VIP launch is scheduled for Saturday 6 December 2014, with construction to commence early 2015. Completion is expected late 2017.
