Designing Student Centered Learning Spaces

Earlier this year, the federal government unveiled its school funding plan for the next decade, revealing it will invest $81 billion of Commonwealth money into primary and secondary schools over the next four years.

A national move designed to stem declining education standards, this increased financial commitment to redevelop Australia’s educational institutions will improve Australia’s schools and educational standing in the OECD region, while also presenting vendors who supply to the education sector with an unprecedented opportunity to benefit from this rapidly growing sector.

This increased investment is intended to be used to improve student outcomes by improving, reshaping and evolving school curricula as well as the educational environments that students learn in.

World-renowned educational architect Prakash Nair has suggested that designing student-centered learning spaces that move away from rigid, static buildings to more agile "Learning Buildings" is a vital first step.

Learning environments need to become agile to meet the evolving needs of students and teachers.

Likewise, education leaders, school principals and public sector architects need to understand the latest materials and strategies being used to create "classrooms of the future", which is exactly why the EduBUILD congress is being launched at next year’s EduTECH event in Sydney next June.

EduBUILD is set to be Australia’s largest conference and exhibition focused on the development, design, renovation, construction and management of physical learning environments in schools, universities and educational campuses.

Held on the 7-8 June 2018 at the International Convention Centre in Sydney, it’s a meeting place for vendors to meet with education leaders, property developers, government officials and project managers to discuss projects, tenders and share thought leadership that will shape classrooms of the future.
