Sunshine developer Bryant Property Group plans to expand its commercial portfolio with a mirrored addition on the Sunshine Coast.
The father-son developer team has filed plans with the Sunshine Coast Council to build an eight-storey office building with ground-floor retail in Maroochydore’s evolving CBD, on the site of GYG and Good Bean.
The tower on the 2938sq m site would neighbour—and reflect—the group’s seven-storey office block with rooftop bar, Eight on Maroochydore, completed in 2019.
OGE Group Architects have designed the proposed office scheme, which would take the commercial ground floor area from 2063sq m to 4038sq m across the two buildings.
Bryant Property Group owns a number of high-profile properties in the region, including Maroochydore’s refurbished Old Courthouse.
Maroochydore is rapidly expanding thanks to the Walker Corporation-led Maroochydore City Centre plans, the planned 2032 Olympic venues and its state Priority Development Area declaration of 2013.
While Bryant Property Group is focused on commercial and retail properties, the infrastructure to support growth in all sectors is ramping up.
The region’s digital transformation is being supported by the Tabua high-capacity international submarine cable that Google announced last year.
The cable will connect Australia to Fiji and on to the US, and is expected to land in the first half of 2026.
Google is using NEXTDC’s SC1 data centre at Maroochydore to support the project.
NEXTDC announced a $200-million investment with another data centre on the Sunshine Coast to be called SC2.
Meanwhile, the State Government has earmarked funding for trunk infrastructure to fast-track the opening up of sites for more than 1800 homes in the city.
The state’s $82.9 million is a boost for the $142.7 million to support the ongoing development of the Maroochydore CBD precinct.
That project includes the extension of First Avenue to Dalton Drive, as well as an upgrade to a section of Maud Street.
