Long-Term Vision for 2032 Brisbane Games Unveiled

The next phase of preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been revealed—a long-term Games vision.

Called Believe. Belong. Become. Brisbane 2032, the vision document will shape decision-making and planning as the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee works towards delivering the Games in seven years.

The Queensland Government said more than 6000 people had provided feedback during the consultation process, including a significant share of respondents from Queensland.

The state said its 2032 Delivery Plan would align Games-related investment with broader transport, infrastructure, tourism and community-sport outcomes.

The vision emphasises the economic and social opportunities tied to hosting the Games, including long-term participation benefits and increased activity across Queensland’s communities, according to the state.

Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the vision provided clear direction for how the Games should reflect the state’s ambition, values and inclusive sporting culture.

He said the framework reinforced that the Games should create opportunities for participation and connection across the state.

Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee president Andrew Liveris said the vision and its accompanying principles would act as a reference point for planning in the lead-up to 2032.

Liveris said each element of the vision was intended to reflect qualities embedded in Queensland communities and to guide the delivery of Games that elevate the city, state and nation.

At the launch of the vision in Brisbane on Wednesday, retired two-time Olympic gold medallist-turned-chef de mission Anna Meares said having the slogan ready now was crucial as it set the tone for the legacy the Games would create.

“Our legacy isn’t what happens after the Games, it’s what we’re starting to do now to deliver those Games,” she said.

Brisbane 2032 will also have a tagline, which is expected to be released a couple of years out from the Games.
