Estia Eyes Expansion of Luxury Care in Adelaide

Former Padman Facility - HERO.

Plans have been filed to expand a high-end residential care facility in Adelaide’s south by sector heavyweight Estia Health.  

Formerly known as Premier Health Care’s The Carlyle on Cross and refurbished in 2020, the luxury facility in Unley is now know as Estia Health Myrtle Bank. 

Proposed plans include the demolition of existing buildings at 5, 5A and 7A Glenferrie Avenue to develop a two-storey building with 46 beds linking to the existing care facility at 32 Cross Road, Myrtle Bank.

If approved, plans show the total number of beds would increase to 118 with four apartments included in the mix.  

Each bedroom would have a private ensuite, including suites for couples and interconnecting rooms.

Spanning 7779 sq m with 3108 sq m of that to be part of the extension, Estia Health Myrtle Bank neighbours the University of Adelaide.

Estia Health Myrtle Bank said it aims to tailor its homes for the particular area it is in, and the fitout includes day spa, beauty salon, theatre, and fitness centre. 

Before becoming Carlyle on Cross, the facility was Ridge Park at Myrtle Bank, which then underwent a significant refurbishment.

Estia Health was formed in 2014 from Padman Health Care, Cook Care, Estia and Kennedy Homes, and now has more than 70 homes across SA, Victoria, NSW and Queensland with more than 8000 residents
