TUD Awards Winner: Excellence in Sustainability

The fourth annual The Urban Developer Awards, in association with Trilogy Funds, recognises standout property industry performers from across Australasia.

The awards program is delivered digitally, replacing the previously-held black-tie gala dinner with our virtual celebration of content.

Today, we celebrate Excellence in Sustainability, proudly presented by Simpel.

About this project

Solaire Properties’ Vanquish is the result of three years of research and development and is the largest architecturally-designed passive house in Australia with 458sq m floor space on a 454sq m site.

It has a 12m light-sanitised freshwater pool, an integrated heat pump and hybrid solar inverter system, 34m of sliding glazed glass windows and boasts a 90 per cent reduction in heating and cooling loads.

Reverse engineering the requirement of a European home to keep heat in, the home is cool to suit the home’s sub-tropical environment.

Project details

  • This home features a world-first heat pump and hybrid solar inverter system developed in collaboration with the University of Queensland and Australia’s first installation of Redback technologies 3-phase hybrid smart inverter, which is virtual power plant ready.

  • The entire home was built off solar energy produced on the roof next door.

  • Solaire Properties has a policy of 75 per cent onshore sourcing, this ensures stimulation of innovative sustainable product development within Australia, keeps carbon miles to a minimum and provides local jobs within the Australian economy.
