Beachfront Pub, Motel, Land on Offer at WA Holiday Hotspot Esperance

An ocean-front pub and the 2.2ha slice of land it sits on have hit the market at the scenic Western Australian tourism town of Esperance.
The family owned and operated Travellers Inn (known colloquially as ‘The Travs’) includes an 18-room motel, pub, bar, wine bar, function room, restaurant and drive-through bottle shop.
The recently renovated venue sits across Phyllis Street from the Southern Ocean in Castletown, a north-eastern suburb of Esperance 700km south-east of Perth.
The Travs and its 21,750sq m site have been listed for sale by Perth-based Effective Brokering.
The firm’s head of business brokering Ivan Cheok said the property, developed in 1965, was last sold in 2023 to WA-based father and sons Richard, Paul and Dave Stephen of the Castletown Development Trust.
“The trio is now selling this exceptional waterfront site and the associated businesses due to rising demands from other WA operations they’re involved in,” Cheok said.
“The Travs has been actively renovated over the past few years, reopening in stages with new modern spaces while retaining traditional elements and the relaxed coastal vibe the ... venue is well known for.”
The motel, tavern and drive-through are operated by separate firms. The tavern has a 100-guest capacity function room that has ocean views to the Recherche Archipelago, a unique feature off Esperance comprising nearly 100 pristine islands.

Cheok said the land was “clearly ripe for developing, perhaps into a premium seaside tourist destination of the future”.
“Thanks to being home to some of the country’s best beaches and national parks brimming with wildlife, as well as its growing adventure experiences, Esperance is a top Australian tourism town enjoying strong visitor numbers,” he said.
“Visitor spending makes up 15 per cent of the Esperance economy, making this property and its associated businesses a compelling investment opportunity.”
Expressions of interest in The Travs aredue to close at 2pm WA time on August 5.
