The Urban Developer Steps Forward for Homeless Youth

The Property Industry Foundation’s Steps for Homeless Youth walking challenge returns in Melbourne next month and The Urban Developer will step out as media sponsor for the popular fitness event.

The challenge will be held this year on May 10 and returns to the Albert Park Lake precinct.

Managing editor Taryn Paris said The Urban Developer had joined the event as part of its commitment to helping the development industry be part of the solution to the growing number of young people at risk of homelessness across the country.

“Melbourne experiences a high level of street homelessness, so we are encouraging our colleagues to join the Steps for Homeless Youth event at Albert Park Lake to help raise $100,000 for Haven Projects,” she said.

“As temperatures plummet in Victoria, it’s a good reminder that there are those who are sleeping rough and enduring incredibly tough conditions.

“While there are structural and policy issues leading to poor outcomes for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness, it’s also a of poverty and limited housing opportunities.

“That is something the Property Industry Foundation is addressing.”

Paris said Albert Park Lake was a beautiful location for a bit of team bonding.

“This event provides an opportunity to come together, get your Lycra on, lace up your runners and invest in your team’s well-being while also helping to take care of some of the community’s most vulnerable,” she said.
