Sherpa Plots Palm Beach Tower Brand Debut

Sherpa Palm Beach Flourish Tower DA hero

Christie Leet’s Sherpa Property Group has filed plans for a 13-storey apartment tower in the Gold Coast development hotspot of Palm Beach.

The proposal comprising 94 units is earmarked for a 1620sq m site at 6-12 Sixth Avenue.

To be known as Flourish on Sixth, it also marks the debut for Sherpa’s new residential brand targeting a broader mix of buyers with apartments priced from under $700,000 to $3 million.

In the past six years, the boutique developer has completed 10 projects on the Gold Coast with four more in the pipeline.

According to the planning documents, the latest proposed development would feature a mix of 10 one-bedroom, 60 two-bedroom and 24 three-bedroom units.

Under the plans, it would also provide almost double the code-required communal open space with a combined 1217sq m across the ground floor, level 13 and rooftop.

Among the recreational amenities are a sauna, steam room, pool, day beds, breakout zones, sundeck lounge areas, barbecue and private dining areas.

On the ground floor, the proposal includes work-from-home stations and a private meeting room for residents as well as a 164sq m of commercial tenancy for use as an office, food and drink outlet or shop.

Parking for 169 cars is to be provided on the ground and three basement levels.

The Flourish on Sixth scheme has been designed by Brisbane-based architecture studio MAS.

“The tower’s design is intended to complement the coastal environment while providing residents with expansive views and a seamless connection to the outdoors,” a design statement said.

“Externally … its facade forms into gentle wave-like curves to create a sense of fluidity and movement.”

If approved, the development—due to be launched to market this year—would replace three single-storey commercial buildings.

The development tide is still on the rise at Palm Beach with several midrise proposals lodged so far this year for the popular beachside suburb on the southern end of the Gold Coast.

Also revealed this week were plans by Gordon Corp and the Mathieson family, developers of the landmark Mantaray Marina and Residences at The Spit, also on the Gold Coast, for a nine-story luxury residential block at Jefferson Lane.
