
Say the word “regional” in relation to hotels and it likely brings to mind down-at-the-heel motels with paper-thin walls and bedsheets from the 1980s.
But times are changing. There is a perfect storm brewing for the regional hotel subsector as accommodation demand climbs, according to CBRE hotels director Hayley Manvell.
Investors are seeing a growing demand as an opportunity. According to CBRE data, regional Australian hotel transaction volumes reached $509 million in 2024, closing in on CBD volumes, which were $526 million for that year.
