Cycling, sleeping out and searching for answers—three events to help homeless youth are scheduled for coming months.
The Urban Developer, as a media partner with the Property Industry Foundation, is proud to be a part of the events that will help build awareness and raise funds for youth homelessness in Australia.
The Urban Developer team will join the whirr of pedals at Queen Street Mall as digital media partner for the Pedal for Homeless Youth stationary cycling event on Thursday, July 25.
Managing editor Taryn Paris said The Urban Developer team “will be donning its best lycra for a good cause this month, sweating it out alongside other industry professionals to support this worthy cause and highlight the challenges around youth homelessness in the Sunshine State”.
As joint principal partner and media partner of the foundation’s Trivia Night on August 22, The Urban Developer team is brushing up on their general knowledge and getting ready for friendly rivalry between teams.
“We love the opportunity to socialise with peers, and to have some fun while raising money for the Property Industry Foundation is our definition of a triple bottom line,” Paris said.
“Whether it’s team building or scoping out one of the best urban renewal precincts in Brisbane, Howard Smith Wharves will be the place to be on August 22.”
The team is confident in several trivia categories and is looking forward to a challenge.
“We are a competitive team and look forward to testing our mettle against the best and brightest in the industry,” Paris said.
“Our pet topics include cricket, rugby league, 90s music, starchitects, world news and obscure conspiracy theories.”
Later in the year, The Urban Developer will join industry colleagues sleeping out in their vehicles at Eat Street Northshore, for the Backseat SleepOut.
“During the Property Industry Foundation’s Hike for Homeless Youth earlier this year The Urban Developer founder Adam Di Marco heard the testimony of a young person who had a lived experience of homelessness and felt truly inspired to do more for these vulnerable people,” Paris said.
“More and more people are living out of their cars as the cost of living continues to bite.
“Roughing it for one night to raise awareness and funds for an organisation working at the coal face to house these people is a small but powerful way to contribute to the conversation.”
The Backseat SleepOut will be held on October 24.
